After reading the material we have presented so far, you might be asking yourself some questions. Let’s make sure we are thinking along the same lines. These are the questions we would be asking ourselves about now.
- What is my personal background and family history? How is my general health? How do these factors influence my future plans?
- Where am I on the journey to staying rich? Do I really want to get rich?
- Am I worth more than I owe or do I owe more than I am worth?
- Have I set aside enough short-term cash reserves to weather the bad luck of a job loss or other adversity?
- Is the state of the stock market causing me to lose sleep?
- What future family needs must I plan for? Have I saved enough for my children’s education? When do I wish to retire and am I saving for that day?
- Do I have appropriate health, property, and liability insurance? If I am still in the getting rich phase, am I doing all I can to attain my goals? Am I budgeting to spend less than I earn or should I create more aggressive savings and investing plans?
- Am I doing all I can to minimize my current and future tax obligations?
- Have I created a plan to ensure that as much of my wealth as possible is passed on to my children and grandchildren?
Linked is a Personal Financial Checklist that can assist you in answering these questions and may help you assess your next action steps.
